Yes, this is yet another blog. Some might wonder — if anyone actually reads this — why? The answer is simple: this will be a more personal blog. While not entirely a diary, there will be elements of it which resemble that practice. I hope to write upon those things I experience within a day which I find to be interesting and or amusing. The posts, while being reflective in nature, will tend to be written more along the lines of a stream-of-consciousness presentation/format than a systematic analysis of what I have experienced or done in a day.
The inspiration for this blog comes from the works the Village Year, Village Daybook, and Countryman’s Journal by August Derleth.
The name of the blog comes from a series of songs by J.R.R. Tolkien, one of which goes:
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.
